"These shortages will come not just from demand bottlenecks in a stressed-out world oil allocation system, but because exporting nations will start demanding payment in Euros or something besides the depreciating currency that reflects our disintegration, and we'll have a problem coming up with payments that amount to at least fifty percent more than we're used to shelling out."

"But it's a hand-lettered sign near the door that reads 'Euros Only' that's getting all the attention."

I'm not a morning person, and usually start my work day at 9:00 AM. But today I left the house at 6:45 AM to be downtown for jury duty.

As you may recall, I served on the jury of a high profile murder case in Cincinnati about eleven years ago. It was a similar situation today, until the G-O-D stepped in and rewarded my anti death penalty stance. An estimated three weeks of my life were about to be devoted to the trial, until they called me in for a final one-on-one interview (strangely, they did everything publicly in the Cincy case).

Question: would you have any issues participating in a case where the death penalty was possible?
Answer: I am absolutely against the death penalty.
Question: is this a new or recent position you've taken?
Answer: no.
Question: is there any chance...are there circumstances where you could return a guilty verdict in a death penalty case?
Answer: no, it is a moral issue for me.

Now let's see some trash talkin' about how I am wimp, or stupid liberal, or would change my mind if a family member was murdered. I've heard it before...

"i never said i would stay to the end
i knew i would leave you with babies and everything
screaming like this in whole of sincerity
screaming it over and over and over
i leave you with photographs
pictures of trickery
stains on the carpet
stains on the memory
songs about happiness murmured in dreams
when we both of us knew
how the end always is"

I think we all knew it was just a matter of time. And now Florida joins other states with a ballot measure to ban gay marriage.

649,000 people signed on to beat the Friday deadline, so we can vote on this most important issue in the presidential election.

People spent time on this. They organized, devoted resources, and made it happen --when they could have been devoting it to their own marriages. But then, that's a little more difficult, now isn't it?

And those "weird", "icky" home-is-sex-u-alls are easy targets.

"I'm just grateful to God first and our supporters second. It's an amazing victory. What our people did was simply remarkable" said John Stemberger (a lawyer, focusing on rental car accident law, no less).

My goal: find five people to speak with and ask to vote this down, and ask each of them to do the same...
